Nederland and Mountain Living in Boulder County

 1) We have no problems. For me, the commute is 30-35 minutes to myoffice in Boulder. It is enjoyable and beautiful...everyday. Winter or summer 30-35 minutes. I never get in a hurry.

2) Winters are "real" winters, at least from mid Nov-April, we can expect snow at anytime. We love that. Put studded snow tires on in Dec-April. Boulder Canyon is very well maintained, so that is never a big issue. Studded tires will assure that you never slip on an icy patch.>

3) For us, Nederland has everything that is important. Great doctor(s), groceries, accountant(s), gas, bars, restaurants, coffee shops, bakery, ice cream parlor, mechanic(s), vet(s) for the pets, recycle center, teen center. The ski mountian with 11 lifts is 10 minutes away. New skating rink and it converts to tennis courts in the summer (is just being completed). Our movie theater is being rebuilt, but we have a temporary one set up in the Nederland Mining Museum $5 admission and .50 for all concessions. First run new movie every week.

4.  We love living in Nederland. In the summer, I can leave the heat and  be on vacation everyday after work. If we need to go to a dept store, Boulder or Flatirons Crossing is only 30-40 minutes away. I take my kids on mountain trails all the time. We fish in local lake and streams, walk the dogs off lease in the National Forest..just fun stuff like that.

5. If you cannot wait for winter to get over, then Nederland will not be your cup of tea. I like that fact that there are two different temperate zones only 30 minutes apart. During this current heat wave, Boulder is 102 and we are in the 80's in Nederland.>

Hope this helps.

Take care,

Steve
